From the
Medical Data on Coffee and Health:

an addiction is a strong dependence on a drug,
characterized by 3 elements:

Severe withdrawal symptoms

Tolerance to a given dose, or the need for
more of the same substance

The loss of control, or the need to consume
the substance at all costs.

Evidence shows that coffee drinkers do not
exhibit these symptoms as addictions.

Like most anything in life, it's not
always as you are being told.

Happy New Year to ya'll
and here's hoping we can grow up as a Nation
towards
our own people and the rest of the
World as fellow
human beings .

It's about time for that
Peace we all keep talking about.

Hey, Coffee, hope your New Year is much kinder to you than it will be for many other people across the world.

If only we had a magic wand, eh, and we could change a few things?

You haven't got a spare one, have you?

Cheers.

cm: That's one of my all-time favorite songs.

There's a great version of Cat Steven's O Caritas on youtube. The images may seem a bit hard to take for those in a lite-lite mood on New Year's Day - but Peace as the one thing to focus on now as in Now as in NOW? Yes. Let's.

Thanks for the posts and the songs. Best to you and yours in 2009.

t & t: You're too kind ; )

colette: And to you and yours ; )

joanne: We can only hope.

fitzgerald: And the same for you and yours and everyone in this world who struggles every day.

david g: Not to worry, we have our own troubles, but we are managing to stay above the water for now.

It'll take a magic wand after what gw and company has done for the last 8 yrs.

Here's hoping a few small miracles occur throughout the world this coming year.

Cheers back of course ; )

dcd: Thanks and for your family also ; )

rlb: That too is one of my most favorite songs of his, more so than the hits.

Great video too, and thanks for pointing it out.

Although, as long as people are walking the earth, there will never be 100% Peace, a little for everyone sure would be nice.

My best to you and yours also, and Thanks for your comments ; )

Love the vid! How cool that they're all sitting around a centerpiece of living plants. Very cool.

Hey happy new year to you, C.M. I'm having a cup of Peets French roast coffee this morning, to get the new year off to a blazing start.

Peace to you in 2009, and great good health, happiness, wonderful surprises. May it be so!

Coffee is good for you. Happy New year!

loss of control: a hot dog made Patty lose control.

Evidence does show that coffee drinkers are not addicts... every so often i quit coffee for a week or two, and I never get tired and headachey or cranky.

unlike most years, this year I'm actually going to make a few resolutions and I'm really, really work on keeping them however, giving up my morning coffee is NOT on my list!

speaking of lists thanks for gandhi's inspiring list - and thanks for inspiring us!

if we don't count the election of the O man, 08 wasn't all that great - economic crises galore, increasing numbers of uninsured people, foreclosures, and unemployment, violence, war criminals in high office, and war, war, war

here's to a healthy, prosperous, peaceful new year for one and all!! let wishes that 09 will be sublime.

Does making a concerted effort at improving my cursing skills, such as they used to do in antiquity, count as a peaceful new year's resolution?

Probably not, though I may be able to find work as a cursing scribe for those that have a hard time expressing their feelings through the written word.

Hope you have a great year, C.M.

This is a lively, colourful site.

I am a coffee-holic, don't drink alcoholic beverages but enjoy good, strong and rich coffee. Right now, I'm being stimulated to go brew a fresh pot.

I invite you to visit my site at garyross.ca.

Have a healthy. prosperous 2009.
