You remember on The Band of Brothers when that one private is criticized for trying to stay alive? The advice given to him was that he was going to continue being a danger to the rest of the soldiers until he learned that he was already dead. Only then would he be of any value to the team. That is what that saying reminds me of.
The flying bed was one right out of my childhood where every night my wall would lower and I would fly thru the sky all night. Those were some really good memories.
Maybe I should emphasize that those flying bed fantasies that I entertained were only that ... fantasies, lest you think that I was doing LSD before I was 10.
The funny thing is that after you've been alive for quite a few decades and survived some of the unpleasant things that life throws at you, the fear of dying dissipates and you begin to see death as the means of achieving the ultimate peace.

Could be? I haven't seen the film since I was very small. Loved the book, though.
Ah, Coffee, the fear of dying is widespread.
The funny thing is that after you've been alive for quite a few decades and survived some of the unpleasant things that life throws at you, the fear of dying dissipates and you begin to see death as the means of achieving the ultimate peace.
Take care, friend!
