tea and coffee

Vivace, off Broadway , Seattle Wa
(10-2007) this store now closed

Yikes!

I don't know what happened, but having a little
cubbyhole here on the internets for the last 3 yrs,
somehow, the "blog of note" has seen to take
notice, just when my very own computer has
to end up for some dire service ; (

update = 1-9-2009

After a lengthy call to Mumbai
and assurance that Dell replacement
discs will arrive in 2-3 busy-ness
days, I should be up and running
next weekend.
Thanks for all your very nice
comments and I look forward
to visiting your blogs then.
Cheers!

Master Italian craftsmen fashioned copper

and brass into tall sculptured Espresso machines.

Glistening and golden masterpieces, crowned with

an elegant eagle, this became the beginning of:

the Espresso Era........ 1933

Expresso has only been around 76 years? I thought it had been around much longer.

Coffee Messiah said...

nick: Pavoni had a patent in 1903 and they started to sell machines in 1905. Their machines made it to the US of A in 1927. From there, it escalated......

That's the best I could come up with, with my limited knowledge.

My brain is a bit fuzzy ya know ; (

Nice to C U! ; )

what a clever, clever ad campaign the Atlantic and Pacific dreamt up ! The two genteel tea-or-coffee* ladies look straight out of Hogarth.

* I'm having my daily spot of after-lunch espresso as I look at this. Love espresso and those copper espresso makers are works of arts in themselves.

Bon dimanche to you, cm.

I've been drinking a lot of black tea lately, since I realized coffee gives me a sour stomach.

Hargate's of London makes a killer English breakfast tea.

Ah espresso ... what a fabulous buzz.

mouse (aka kimy) said...

I have yet to acquire a yearning for espresso.... not that I disliked the few cups I've had, but not a preparation I seek out....

but it does seem so civilized a drink!

as rlb said clever campaign. whatever happened to the atlantic and pacific tea company - inquiring minds would love to know!

Kurt said...

Now I get it! It took me a minute.

Ténèbres à la lumière... said...

Hi! C.M.,

I really like to drink coffee and enjoy the different flavor(s) and taste of some tea(s).

I also enjoyed taking a "peek" at the atlantic and pacific tea company poster(s) that you posted.
I wonder if that is only "one' poster or "two" separate posters?
Tks,
dcd ;-)

Coffee Messiah said...

rlb: Yes, if only advertising today was so clever. And the older machines are by far a work of art. Nothing like a nice, smooth tasting espresso, to be sure.

megan ; )

reya: There are so many fine tasting teas. Like coffee, fresh is best.

kimy: If made correctly, it's quite satisfying and you actually drink less than you would a whole cup of coffee ; )

I've never researched the company. Back then, according to the trade cards we have and have seen, there were many a company importing.

kurt: Finally.....

dcd: It's actually one trading card, turned upside down. ; )

As my focus comes from coffee
the bean is my messiah. Before children were diagnosed with
adhd, and given ritalin, my mother thought the java might do me some good. It worked, it continues to work,
and for that I'm grateful.

Blessed is the coffee bean, for within it's roasted goodness, lies the true and shining path.

It's funny, I came across you're blog. I've been pulling my hair out trying to find a retailer of Ireland coffee; the original A.C.diner coffee. Only occasionally will I find it at the local supermarket. I guess I'm going to have to break down and buy a case. Personally, I believe coffee should be like whiskey; as smooth as possible. Not burnt like "char"bucks.

Nice site!

Holy smoke! Did I come upon the perfect blog or what!

I love coffee and coffee lore and stufff -- where have you been all my blog life?!

I've come across a few mentions of Hargates Tea -- I'm not much of a tea person, except the herbal stuff my mom raised us with - te de limon, yerba buena, te de canela - all fresh stuff. But, I have found that i LOVE a good breakfast tea - Irish breakfast tea - so anything along those lines, I'll have to try. Sounds like Hargate Tea is going to be my next adventure in hot beverages.

Ciao
