Arabica Beans
Discovered in Ethiopia around 500 - 600 A.D.
The worlds premium coffee and most widely
grown species, accounting for 70% of all coffee
Thrives in sunny, tropical settings at altitudes
between 3,000 and 6,500 feet
Doesn't like extreme heat or cold
Robusta Beans
Discovered in the Belgian Congo in 1898
Cheaper to grow but produces a weaker,
bitter cup and accounts for nearly
30% of all coffee
A hardier and higher yielding plant that
does well in lower altitudes
Contains about one and a half times as
much caffeine as arabica
for L
miss you!

Hi! C.M.,
What a very nice post, quote, and
song by Boyd Bennett.
Tks, for sharing!
Deedee ;-D
Great collage (turtle delivery, that's even neater than a car hop), great song. And here's to Ethiopia (coffee-wise, I mean.)
Cheers, cm.
ummm... thanks for the info...
:)
Cheers!!!
i don't like extreme heat or cold either
I knew these things about the beans, but your description of robusto beans says it produces a "weaker" cup. I am assuming you mean weaker in coffee flavor as the caffiene content is higher in robusto than arabica. Just verifying for self knowledge.
Thanks.
In the meantime, I moved away from my usual coffee shop haunts and am in the act of finding a local coffee shop to do my morning bidding. I'm in a really nice college town, River Falls, WI, but out of the four really true coffee shops, two have closed within the past year, (blaming the economy, I blame bad coffee among other things). The other two not to my immediate liking.
So, come here and open one, or I will. (Talked with my daughter about it last night!)
Peace
when turtles start delivering you coffee by minstrel infested streams I think it's time to cut back!
great collage!
always wondered about arabica. the question I now have is: how do I pronounce "arabica"? Where is the emphasis? My inclination is to go with the third syllable.
great song, btw.
ArĂ¡bica
Perfect timing - I was just about to start the coffee, and so got to listen to this song while doing it! Neat!
Your collages are always so interesting.
I hope The Coffee was Still warm when it arrived!
cool pic and song...
i'll pass on the robusto, too much caffeine for me!
God I love that morning cup of coffee. To adapt something Frank Sinatra said:
"I feel sorry for people who don't drink coffee. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day."
dcd: Thanks for taking a look!
rlb: Thanks and Cheers 2 U also!
shruti: Hello and Thanks 4 stopping by.
lettuce: Extremism by any definition is no good ; (
spado: Hello and Thanks. Hope all is well your way. And yes, weaker in flavor. Good Luck if you attempt the business. It's hard for the little guy and you do spend more hours in a day with the business than anything else.
hR9: R U kidding, in this instance, more is desirable ; )
cg: Thanks and see Cafe P11 below. ; )
cafe P: )
megan: Thanks.
tony; But of course.
tom: Thanks....and once you have the arabica, you'll be able to tell the difference.
kurt: The only thing better, would be to wake up in the hills somewhere overlooking some mountains or water, with nothing else in view ; )
Thanks for the info, Coffee~
so hot here today...88 degrees in April, I think I may start drinking iced coffee after all. Do you ever make iced coffee? any tips?
I loved the song.
Very nice
gotta try some of those!
hit 100 one day during my texas wander....
had a few days with NO COFFEE when I was at one house (I was out in the 'country').... a day without coffee, well it's hard... diet coke is a poor delivery system for the morning dose of caffiene!
thanks for the info! I could be a coffee bean I don't do the extremes well either!
no robusta for me!
Now how do you make your coffee? Like this:

cm: I'm leaving messages with my blogging friends simply to advise I'm still around. My blog has been deleted as spam on a 'false positive' and I'm now working on getting it reinstated.
My best to indy to anna and to you.
