I've had this photo in my collection since the early '80s.
I still ponder how so many, search for what's right
in front of them, or, that they themselves in large
part make life what it is.......

Post Collections - Cancelling Out 1991

It's interesting what you can find, looking around
your home, to use for cards, envelopes, or ????

Like most things, we are only limited,
by ourselves, really .......

Beautiful. We are so self-conscious these days - no one would produce these now. Vry cool.

Ah, stamps again. As I stated in a prior post I spent a number of my early years collecting and researching stamps from around the world, though I admit I concentrated on the US stuff. But as any true collector will attest to, a world of information was gleened from such a venture--historical, biographical and scientific, at the time an invaluable visual medium.

And needless to say, in many instances art work has never been so beautiful or alluring.

Love the photo and the posts. Akin to that, one of my favorite excerpts from poetry, "Little Gidding" T.S. Eliot.

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

CM: there is something so alluring about stamps: thinking about where they go, and how they get there. Last sentence: how true! I was bemoaning the fact that I'd like to learn to draw, and someone said, "You have a pencil, don't you?"

Hi! C.M.,
What a very interesting post collection(s). Personally, I plan to start to collect postage stamps
of celebrities...such as:Bogie, Audrey Hepburn, Grant,etc,etc,etc... right now actor Gary Cooper, is being featured on the US postage stamp.
Thanks, for sharing!

There is that TS Eliot quote I love about going around and coming back full circle and yet seeing things differently-- and this is really paraphrasing it but you get the meaning- it is harder to see what is most familiar to us

Coffee, no one can emulate you! You put your unique stamp on things without effort.

P.S. The election of the Republican, Brown, is a bad omen for America and for the world.

sam: Works of art some really are. And you're right, I remember seeing and wanting to know about other countries because of what I saw.

candie: Hello and Thanks 4 stopping by.

cg: That's a nice quote, Thanks.

t & t: Yes, I've had and do have the same problem, but am trying to change it.

merle: Thanks for stopping by.

dd: There's many out there, 2 b sure. Good Luck with it and Thanks for stopping by.

layers: You're right and I've often wondered why what is right in front of us always, is so hard to see?! Thanks for stopping by.

david: Hey, Thanks.....as for the election, as usual, too much emphasis is put on his winning. I believe it's more to do with the cost of health care in that state, which you "have" to purchase. Realizing my position, if I "have" to purchase something, I too will not be able to afford it. It's that simple. Sadly, the dems are so out of it and willing to attempt to work with the repubs who do not want anything to do with progress, that they have now missed the boat on the power they could and did have. Sad, isn't it?

Cheers!

The first one. I wonder if folks actually followed the instructions if nothing but out of curiosity!

The postcards are neat. Very neat.

anil p: It's another curious way to re-use old stamps. It certainly is something to ponder.
