I have three treasures.

Guard and keep them:

The first is deep love.

The second is frugality.

And the third is not to dare to be ahead of the world.

Because of deep love, one is courageous.

Because of frugality, one is generous.

Because of not being ahead of the world,

one becomes the leader of the world.

I'd settle for a leader to emerge in America, one that can lead its people out of the current wilderness.

As the two Democrats destroy each other and McCain is revealed as an aging Don Juan I despair.

We can but keep hoping!

Take care!

i thought this sounded like Lao Tzu before I got to the bottom and saw it was. I try to apply Lao to personal living and eschew politic, so to me, this is about not running for office.

Nice picture, and it's too late in this house, I can't play the music...but Seiji I have enjoyed before, it's probably great...maybe tommorrow...:-)

david: Amazing that $$$$ can only these 3. Makes one wonder if money really can buy the best? ! ; (

ad: Yes, more a daily function to be sure, but covers all aspects of life.
This album has been my favorite since I heard it in SF as a kid, way back when! ; )

Lao Tzu ... so inspiring.

Coffee, I am hoping I can count on you to bring various coffees to campus for our special field trip on campus this week. I realize it is short notice, but the wine shipment just arrived and I am busy organizing and tasting it.

the famous Shadows & Light blog posted on coffee today. One can only hope for a swift decline for McStarbucks.

when children have a deep love for their parents, they grow up so much more confident and courageous --parents who teach generosity, frugality, and modesty (humbleness) and practice what they teach, raise fearless children who respect and love them deeply.

prof. mb: I may be able to scare up a few pounds of something that will go with the chocolates. I'll check in with you later. Thanks 4 the link. I've looked and responded.

ms. W: It's hit and miss. One never knows but most times this does indeed tend to work.

I've always thought my frugality was a gift, too. But my sisters consider it a curse. On them.
