Peace is present right here and now,

in ourselves and in everything we do and see.

The question is whether or not we are in touch with it.

We don't have to travel far away to enjoy the blue sky.

We don't have to leave our city or even

our neighborhood
to enjoy the eyes of a beautiful child.

Even the air we breathe can be a source of joy.

from: Peace Is Every Step - Thich Nhat Hanh

Nice post; I discovered lots of things I didn't know about, on my step discovery this week, in my area.

Thanks for the tour. Ms. Muir must have been a remarkable person.

But Thich Nhat Hanh, the sky isn't blue and the air isn't all that breathable where I live. Also, looking in children's eyes gets you arrested.

what a peace-filled post - thanks for the tour, the introduction to gladdys muir - what an inspiring individual, the wonderful quote and the jim pepper chant - one of my all time favorites ....always makes me feel fine.....

To me, the ramp symbolizes the steps we must take ourselves, the effort. Gladdys Muir knew what she was talking about.

I like the idea of peace education.

All we were taught as kids was how we had to win -

I'm peaceful as long as everyone conforms to my ideas.

t & t: Thanks for tagging along.

merle: That the school is still going strong, with kids from all around the World too, is remarkable.

kurt: Hey, is your glass 1/2 full or empty?

mouse: I only have 2 versions, well, one is Jim Pepper on his own later, Brewer & Shipley and and there's a version by someone named Grant from the 80s I believe.

bd: That was my thought, hence the photo, rather than stairs. It would have been nice to hear her speak.

squirrel: Sad you have to pay for that kind of education, isn't it?

dennis: Why does that not surprise me?

tiphany: Glad you stopped by and took a listen.

I was watching this old movie with Anne Bancroft and Burt Lancaster and he says something like "You women don't understand about Victory! It has a TASTE!"
and she says so does defeat.
I'm not sure it WAS Anne Bancroft though, because she was wearing a long blonde curly wig and I didn't see a close up. I'm just going by the sound of the voice.

Love the message in Peace Is Every Step. Very moving, and tangible.

Dennis thinks Gladdys was lucky--she probably had all these nice pure circles.
