The history of coffee houses
is the invention of clubs,
was that of manners, the morals,
and the politics of a people.

===============================

I have been asked to go to a Democratic
breakfast tomorrow with my friend
Chester who ran unsuccessfully for
Congress in the primary election.

It's going to be held in Huntington, In.,
the home town of Dan Quayle.

It should prove to be interesting.

More later.

I have met people who successfully/unsuccessfully ran for elections. They are all crooks.

I would rather have my foot hit with a hammer than listen to another candidate.

In our fair city, one of the candidates for US Congress is being attacked because his brother, in another city and with no connection to the campaign, ran a school bus company that received criticism for unsatisfactory bus service.

Check out this candidate.
I hear the internet groundswell for him is going to have a serious impact on the race next month.

This candidate just may be different.

Someday if you make your way to Calcutta you must visit Coffee Houses there, for the history as well as for the tradition.

t & t: Thanks, although sadly, last evening Chester came by and said it was postponed ; (
I sort of dreaded it, but am curious enough to see what they're up to out here.

kurt: You know, the speller! ; )

bitchlet: In many ways, that's true of most, but there are people in the system who indeed aren't taking advantage of the system and do want to help the public.

But they're out numbered! ; (

merle: Ouch, either way a losing proposition.

lp: I was sent that earlier in the week and sent it to my nephew. I haven't heard from him and hope the elderly ladies in the end didn't scare him.....

Thanks for the thought and joke! Because it would be you know, if true.

anil p: If I were ever to make it to your fair country, I would hope we could meet and you would show me around. ; )

kimy: Sadly, postponed. I'm sure they'll have another soon.

Thought you'd like to know John Edward Roush, Democratic Congressman and the "inventor" of the 911 emergency phone system was also born in Huntington. Just to balance things out, you understand.

Wikipedia further informs us that "Eiffel G. Plasterer, in the mid-1900s, toured America with his "Bubbles Concerto" program. He was a pioneer in soap bubble art and invented unique bubble-making techniques and equipment."

Let's celebrate with Quayle's lovely sentiment, shared by all his fellow-astronauts, I'm sure: "It's time for the human race to enter the solar system."

I'll vote to that.

Cheers!
