woman at the window # 2
Art is a step from what is obvious
and well known
toward what is arcane
and concealed.

Thanks to artSpark for alerting me
to another artist that preceded Picasso
that painted a "Woman At The Window."
This is that painting with another by
another artist in the bottom window.
Do you know who these 2 are?

Hi! C.M.,

I think the artist name is Casper David Friedrich...hmmm..but,
I'am not sure who painted the bottom painting, but it looks like
Van Gogh?!??
Take care!
DeeDee ;-D
The foreground is Caspar David Friedrich, as ArtSparker mentioned the other day. The second, I'm not sure but it reminds me of Canadian painter Emily Carr.
Great collage, cm. And the potential for a whole series, too.
My turn to ask questins: who's the singer? Beautiful version.
C.M.,
I was so busy trying to guess the
artist(s) of the paintings that I forgot to mention nice "sounds" and nice quote(s) too!
Take care!
DeeDee ;-D
The second painting is a bit Cesanne-ish and a bit Van Gogh-ish, but mum's guess about Emily Carr may be spot on.
tony: I'll tell later ; )
dcd: Same as the above ; )
mum: The whole song is by the B Tribe, actually one guy who goes by the name "the brave" and has made some amazing albums in the past. His real name is Claus Zundell and if you're familiar with Enigma, I believe he was involved in something like that prior to their 1st album.
Long story short: the singer is Esther Phillips, famous soul singer. What a voice eh! ; )
artSpark: Ha, I thought you'd get it for sure: None of the three you mentioned, although if I had to have guessed, Van Gogh is who I would have thought of too.
I don't understand the question.

I love it.
Ah, Coffee, you are a magician. Your blog is unique and untouchable for quality and broad interest.
P.S. I still think you should be America's President.
P.P.S. The only women in the window I can recall are those in Amsterdam!
no idea - but i really like them both.
& v. nicely combined

megan: Thanks, & U 2.

candie: Thanks, it was a tough one.

david g: You're too kind. er, if that were to happen, you think this country is bad now? ; (
Ha. ha on the "amsterdam" woman at the window.
lettuce: Thanks for stopping by. They were hard to guess, no?
Oh! C.M.,...The man responsible for...The Scream...I would have never guessed that in let say,...
...hmmm...a "million" years
methinks!
Even though I didn't know the artist name it's a very "beautiful" painting.
Thanks, for sharing!
DeeDee ;-D
Very cool and evocative stuff, cm. I really like what you are doing with these paintings.
Looking forward to the next one.
dcd: Yep, it was a hard one.
robin: Hey, Thanks for stopping by!
mum: May be awhile. Not sure what I'm doing next ; )
You stumped me on this, and the previous "Woman at the Window." In spite of my being familiar with all the artists involved, the only thing I recognized was the Picasso in Dali's window. (Which probably would have given Salvador a fit!;-)
Of greater significance for me is that I've been introduced to 'new' works by two of my old favorites, Dali & Friedrich. Ironically, the most 'normal' looking scenes I've ever seen by either artist.
Thanks, Coffee!
Very cool Carradine tribute.
decker: Hey, nice to see you around!
