This is a back road that does make for
a short cut into town from this way.

Coffee, African proverbs are always interesting and you picked a good one.
Here's two I enjoyed:
It is the calm and silent water that drowns a man.
When you are rich, you are hated; when you are poor, you are despised.
Until the lions have their historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunter.
Flood is one natural disaster that I hope never to experience (Flood due to Hurricane, rain, whatever--I just couldn't take mold, floors with layers of silt and mud, or sofas that become sponges.) Crumbling hillsides, mudslides, toxic floodwaters, when I see people going through that, I feel like crying.
I have always lived on a hill--a flood once washed away part of the road leading to my house, but my house was high and dry.
Now that I have gone on about that----
I love your blog--the proverbs and coffee, music and history. Thanks.
Now theres a proverb our pundit class could use as a plaque above their desks.

That’s a lovely covered bridge. I’ve not be across one of those in years.
There have been flood watches here for the past few days. Since it has been raining hard all day, I fear those watches will turn into warnings.

I understand that the rain is headed toward Georgia tonight with twister s and all. I'm somewht concerned because I live on a hill and things get a little rough.
