Reilly and Maloney, who I met while in HS.

I believe some tribes have more than one name Delawares were Leni Lenape ? anyway it does get confusing.
Looking at the NY part of the map, I wonder where these fit in:
the Marechawick tribe (they were in Brooklyn but left and regrouped in Nyack with a tribe there called the Nayacks.) I read that when they sold Brooklyn to the Dutch they retained hunting and fishing rights, which the Dutch never let them keep. (both were connected to the Canarsee Tribe) I don;t know if they were Algonquin or Delaware or other...
I never knew there was a Peoria tribe, so many place names are Indian names though. We still have Ramapo People living in our county. Then we have Hackensack NJ and Ho-Ho-Kus....
What are you thoughts about Ethiopian yirgacheffe?
Interesting map. In Nebraska we always studied the plains Indians in school. There are so many small tribes that didn't make the map.

squirrel: It's that way out here too. Funny that most people not only don't realize where the names originate, but that they don't feel anything for the tribes. The Miamis were all over Indiana and North. Now, still can't get recognized by the government for status? Strange and pathetic.
kurt:It is a bit flowery and tasty. If roasted fresh, should be nice as is the Harrar, although it's fruity, winey and a bit stronger than the Yirgacheffe. Hope that helps ; )
merle: In Ca we learned about the Miwoks, who were N of SF. Not much about any others, and obviously there were many off shots of all tribes it seems.

Because of my interest in Native American culture, I have purchased several books about their culture including books on "Cartography " which features many interesting maps, but I am not sure if the map that you featured on your blog is in one of my books.

mary: As I said earlier, when I grew up, we learned only about a local group Miwoks, but there were many more in Ca. When my son went to school, he did not learn anything about Native Americans, so, it is worse now ; (
