Hmmm... I vote for living in the woods in a yurt. Some days I wish I would get evicted from modern society as it were. With a tin cup for a chalice fill it up with good red wine... oh yeah. Best, Ani

If only we could go back to the frontier minus slavery, and all the womanizing. I think it would be a far better world. Of course the internet.....well, i don't know

Living in a van is easy and cheap. Been there, will probably be there again.

How did you find this?!

A too common story these days.

What Willow said. I lost my home over a year ago. And finding just the right apartment...well, it hasn't been easy. C.M. see if you can find a copy of "Americathon". It's from about the mid-'80's. Very spooky how scenes from it, mirror what's going on to-day :(

when I saw the photo, the first thought was: "and where did they go next?"

Timeless, indeed. Which also means: change is an ongoing thing - as the song says, not all of it need be for the worst.

Hi! C.M.,
The photograph is very beautiful, but the "eviction" is very "heartbreaking."

Tks, For sharing!

willow: Timeless ; (

ani: Todays lifestyle isn't all it's cracked up to be, hence the big mess.

n4T: I know what you mean. All people have tried to transcend all the negatives, only to make more it seems ; (

kurt: How big's your van?

bitchlet: By searching ; )

merle: Sadly, yes ; (

kimy: All that we endure as the power of $$$ is the rule 4 the day ; (

It's time to turn things around, as bad as it is, but will we?

subT77: We're all on the edge and I've never worried so much in my life, until now ; ( I'll check it out, Thanks!

rlb: The song is from an obscure Badfinger album called: Ass. It's always been a favorite for how they expressed it. This time, we are in desperate shape, and hopefully some of the $$$$ players will have lost so much, they'll learn to share the wealth to those actually doing the work.
But I'm thinking, once and when it all turns around, it'll still be busy-ness as usual ; (

dcd: It is a sad day when the people doing all the hard work, are treated so badly. I know it myself ; (

It is much better to arrange for the necessities of change before the change overwhelms you.

Subtorp:I'm really sorry about your house.Really sad for all the people who have lost their houses. It still feels it's a nighmare what's happening.

Wonderful photo and music. I don't think I've heard that song before. And I remember Badfinger very well!
Thank you CM!

a yurt in the woods sounds good

looks like that little guy on the right is waving goodbye.

Not good; especially if you're self-employed, and your expertise is disappearing. A yurt . . . well, I lived in an area where that had been part of the available scene, but it doesn't work out very well.

Do you like the Onion, that funny newspaper? Their headline story today is about how Americans are instinctively forming breadlines.

Very scary times!

butternut: Sometimes it just doesn't work out that way ; (

candi: The world is changing in big ways.

brian: Some things in life never seem to change.

cg: Most remember "come and get it" and after that??????

ar: Kids...... ; )

t & t: I hear you loud and clear.

reya: May not be too far from the truth the way we're heading. That those in power want to continue on the road that got us here is freaky! ; (

as: That's a thought ; )

From a Parade report a couple months ago: they interviewed folks living in the cars/trucks. These people were given sanctuary by different churches, to use the car parks after losing their jobs and homes. This was in San Diego and at last report, 12 lots were full up. It's not wonder I opt for an estate( station-wagon ) or van.

It can't get harder than this, ever. Losing a roof is one thing but the hit the morale takes is far more difficult to recover from. No one should ever face this.

Now it's time to talk with all of our friends, relatives and neighbors about the future -- will communal living save us? Can we squeeze 2 families into one house for a year? People did this after Katrina, sharing their homes.

If someone you know is in the process of foreclosure they need to hear from friends to see if they have options other than homelessness.

This is sort of depressing...so is the evening news. I am very thankful that my family and friends are still all employed and comfortable, but if things don't rebound soon, who knows what can happen?

subT77: Sad days for far too many! BTW, that movie isn't out on DVD and is very hard to find. Too bad, looks interesting and humorous.

anil p: With all the wealth in the world, that anyone has to suffer in any way is simply not right, no matter who it may be.

ar: Too bad it takes something like this and this magnitude to bring people together.

rmm: Yes and all part of the balance that makes life what it is, sadly.

Wow, re. your photo:history has a way of repeating.
I remain optimistic, however.
I always say that the saying, "Everything Happens For A Reason" is less true than saying "We Must Find A Reason". Perhaps this (severe economic downturn)happened because of our over-indulgence(and even those of us who are frugal, are guilty, too), but the meaning we will find is that we are all humbled by this, and we are forced to look inward. Even more.
